What does a Business Management degree lead to?

Old Reedonians advise pupils at our FutureCareers Seminar.

There is such a wide and varied selection of business-related university courses that, sometimes, identifying the right degree can be a bit of a mine-field, let alone knowing if the skills learned can be applied to the world of work.  To provide some complementary guidance to the pupils – over and above that which they receive at School – we were delighted to welcome back four Old Reedonian speakers for our FutureCareers Seminar.

Each having attended different universities and different courses, our guests were able to paint a rich picture of their journey from Reed’s to university to industry, imparting their advice and knowledge and offering some real-life examples of the relevance of a good business degree.

Matthew Armstrong (Capel 2007) went to Surrey University to study a BSc in Business Management, and is now Account Director at Nuffield Health having worked for the Rugby World Cup previously. Kirsten Blom (Mullens 2012) achieved a 1st Class Honours degree at Oxford Brookes in Business Marketing & Management, and is now Design Associate at Lagardère Sports; William Reynolds (Capel 2008), went to Swansea, gaining a BA in Business followed by an MA in Communication, Media Practice & PR and is now Senior Account Executive at Lewis Global Communications; and last, but not least, Nick Gray (Blathwayt 1993), is Managing Director of his own marketing agency servicing some big FMCG brands - he went to Manchester and studied Management & Marketing.
