The unbeaten 1st XV team celebrate the success of team spirit and shared goals

Back

Team spirit, shared goals and sticking to a simple game plan have seen the players of the 1st XV team secure a fantastic, unbeaten first half of the Autumn Term. Playing midweek in the NatWest Vase as well as on Saturdays has tested the depth of the squad but fortuitously they made it to the mid-season break having won all games.

Notable victories have been made against Eastbourne College, RGS Guildford, St. George’s Weybridge and Hurstpierpoint. As the half term break started the 1st XV team is ranked 9th in the Schools Rugby Merit table (based on opposition and far above the likes of Eton, Harrow, Whitgift and Tonbridge) and 3rd in the Performance league (based on wins).

Whilst there are still tough games to play the squad have already set a record for consecutive 1st XV wins and seek to extend this in both the NatWest Vase and Saturday fixtures. Credit should go to the whole team but the leadership group of Jack Kenningham, Austin Wallis and Beau Roberts has been integral to this success.
