Over a quarter of the students taking A levels in 2014 at Reed’s scored 3 or more A grades or better in all of their exams. 75% of the entries by Upper Sixth Form students obtained A*, A and B grades, and the School also continued to achieve the overall 100% pass rate for A Levels that they have enjoyed in recent years. 14% of the entries gained an A* grade, well above the declining national average; 45% gained an A* or A grade. More importantly the vast majority of students gained places at their chosen university for their course of preference. We were especially delighted for the success of the six students who move on to study medicine/dentistry courses this year.
Excellent GCSE results were recorded with 64% of entries being awarded A* and A grades. Over half the year group gained at least 7 GCSEs at A* or A grades. The majority of boys took 9 subjects with an overall average of 9 passes each. Four students gained at least 10 A* grades. The School has switched in recent years in English and Science to the more challenging IGCSE examinations - and the results were very good indeed in these subjects. In the Sciences in particular pupils achieved well as 126 grades were awarded at A* Level. Biology led the way with 61% of all entries scoring an A* grade.
