Reed’s School has become one of the leading Independent Day and Boarding Schools for boys in the country providing an education for about 650 pupils aged between 11 and 18 with girls admitted to the Sixth Form.

SCHOOL CHAPLAIN 

Required from September 2015

Reed’s School is looking to appoint a School Chaplain to contribute to the spiritual and pastoral care of pupils, staff and the wider school community. The successful candidate will be a thoughtful theologian and an ordained Church of England minister. There would be an opportunity to teach (subject to be agreed but Religious Studies and Philosophy would be an advantage) as well as opportunities to contribute to the wider life of a vibrant school community.

The position is open to all Anglican Clergy and would suit a considered and approachable leader of spiritual education and Christian values. Reed’s School has a Chapel situated geographically in the centre of the School. All pupils attend a Chapel service once a week and the Chaplain is expected to lead weekday Chapel services and officiate at the School’s Carol, Passiontide, Founder and Benefactors, Harvest and Remembrance services.

Applicants without formal teaching qualifications or experience:

Applicants without formal teaching qualifications or experience will be considered for this position. Reed’s has a good track record of training and developing teachers in situ. For applicants without a teaching qualification we are looking for: a high level of subject knowledge, enthusiasm and good communications skills.

Interviews

Candidates will be invited to spend a day at the School and to meet the Headmaster, Chaplain, Staff and pupils. Candidates will be asked to teach a lesson as part of the selection process. Further details will be provided prior to interview.

PERIPATETIC MUSIC TEACHERS x 2 – Trumpet and Saxophone

Required from January 2015

We are looking to appoint two inspiring and well-qualified visiting musicians to teach Trumpet and Saxophone for approximately one day per week during term time. It is hoped that the successful applicant for the Teacher of Saxophone post will also coach a Saxophone Ensemble.

LEARNING SUPPPORT TEACHER - Part Time

An enthusiastic and experienced teacher with relevant SEN qualifications is required to provide Learning Support throughout the school. Experience of EAL would be an advantage.

Non-Teaching Vacancies

GROUNDSPERSON

We are looking to appoint an experienced Groundsperson to join our team responsible for the maintenance and general condition of the grounds, including sports pitches, covering 40 acres.

The role-holder will work 40 hours per week with the ability to work flexible shift patterns (e.g. weekends on a rota) and applicants should have previous experience of working in a Groundsperson

position with relevant NVQ qualifications.

APPRENTICE GROUNDSPERSON

We are looking to appoint an Apprentice Groundsperson to support the daily requirements of our Grounds team.

The successful candidate will be mentored by both the Head Groundsperson and Deputy Head Groundsperson and, under their guidance, be taught how to perform basic grounds related tasks including turf maintenance and preparation, and pitch and line marking. The role involves the use of various site/grounds machines (grass cutters, trimmers etc.) and the apprentice will be instructed in their safe use.

You will also be encouraged to develop your organisational and communication skills to enable you to function in this busy role.
