Mike Wheeler CBE (Chairman)

Mike has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2007 and was appointed Chairman in 2016.  Most of his career was spent with KPMG where he was Managing Partner of KPMG’s Global Advisory Business. After retiring in 2005, he has held various non-executive and advisory roles with companies both in the UK and overseas. Mike is currently Chairman of Glitnir hf. and a non-executive director of Sunseeker International and Premier Oil.  He was awarded a CBE in 2014 for services to healthcare following eight years as a non-executive at the UK Department of Health.     

Marcus Baker

Marcus is the most recent member of our Board of Governors. An Old Reedonian, he studied Business at Hertfordshire University before embarking on his insurance career in the early 1980s. By 1994, Marcus was Divisional Director, Marine and Energy division at Johnson and Higgins which was acquired by Marsh and McLennan in 1996. Marcus continued his ascension within Marsh and McLennan becoming CEO Marine London between 2004 and 2014, Deputy CEO Marine and Energy London from 2006 to 2008, CEO Marine and Energy EMEA from 2008 to 2009 to his present position of Chairman of the Global Marine Practice in 2009. Marcus is also a Pensions Fund Trustee for Marsh and McLennan and a member of the Marsh Presidents Council since 2015.

David Barnett

David has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 1982. He was Partner of Cazenove from 1972 and a Finance Partner from 1979 until his retirement in 2001. David continues to be a trustee of various organisations including Ability Net, Lymphoma Association, Corporation of the Church House, City of London Endowment Trust for St Paul’s Cathedral and The JP Morgan Cazenove Pension Scheme. David is also a Liveryman and Member of the Investment Committee of The Goldsmiths’ Company.

David Blomfield

David has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2003. Educated at Wellington College, David continued on to Southampton University, then Guildford Law School. He qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and has practised as an employment lawyer ever since. He became a partner at Boyes Turner and thereafter was elected to its management committee. David left Boyes Turner in 2012 to set up Draper Lang LLP, a bespoke employment law firm for both employer and employee clients. David is skilled in all aspects of employment law, particularly high-level terminations, restrictive covenants and TUPE matter.

Mandy Donald

Mandy has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2016.  Educated at University of Glasgow, Mandy is a Chartered Accountants of Scotland and holds the FT Non-Executive Director Diploma.
Previously with Ernst & Young, Mandy is a Trustee and Audit Committee Chair at The Institute of Cancer Research as well as a Non-Executive Director and Audit Committee Chair at Punter Southall Group.

James Fulton

James has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2016. Educated at Eton College, he has an MA in Modern History from Oxford University and played 21 first-class matches for Oxford University Cricket Club between 1997 and 1999. He then served in the British Army from 2000 until 2009 after which he became a History Teacher at Eton College.  James briefly took charge of the History Department before moving to his present role as Master-in-College in 2015.

Dr Alison McLean

Alison has been a Governor at Reed's School since 2013. She is a Consultant Radiologist currently working at Princess Grace Hospital and King Edward VIIth Hospital in London. Educated at Girton, University of Cambridge, she studied Medical Science with Archaeology and Anthropology and thereafter at Middlesex Hospital Medical School and is a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Royal College of Radiologists. Outside Medicine she has a particular interest in the Arts - both visual and dramatic - and has close associations with Charleston in East Sussex, the home of the Bloomsbury Group.

Lucinda Napier

Lucinda has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2008.  She was educated at Exeter University where she studied Economics and Social History.  Lucinda joined Cazenove Capital in 1993 where she is now a member of the Charity Investment Committee within their Wealth Management team. She sits on both their Commercial Property and Global Equity Asset Class Committees. Lucinda managed Reed’s investment portfolio for a number of years before stepping down to become a Governor at the School. A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, Lucinda is also Chairman of the Cazenove Charitable Trust.

Diana Peacock

Diana has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2015. Educated at Exeter University, she studied Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics before continuing on to Surrey University gaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Diana taught Mathematics to 11-18 year-olds before becoming a Financial Administrator for a chain of pre-school nurseries. She offers 1-to-1 numeracy support for students aged 16+ at all levels from basic skills to university as well as access courses at a college for higher education. Diana’s three sons were all educated at Reed’s.

Steve Poole

Steve has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2013 and is an Old Reedonian.  He studied Education then School Management at Reading University. With 34 years’ experience of teaching in comprehensive schools in Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey and Kent, Steve has also been an adviser for two local education authorities and Headteacher of two secondary schools. He continues to support academies and maintained schools as an Educational Consultant and is a facilitator for the National Professional Qualification for Headship and Executive Leadership Programmes.

Hugh Priestley

Hugh has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2011.  He studied Arts at Oxford University before beginning his professional career with the Times Newspaper, then Henderson Administration. Hugh has been a Director at Rathbone Investment Management and is a Member of the Investment Committee of Independent Age (formerly RUKBA). Additionally, Hugh is a Fellow of UCL.

Karen Richardson

Karen has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 1997.  A qualified solicitor both in the UK and Hong Kong, she read Jurisprudence at Oxford University and was the first female to become President of the City of London Law Society. Karen was also the first woman to become Master of the City of London Solicitors’ Company in its 100 year history.  Her early career was spent in firms of solicitors in the City of London including Stephenson Harwood, and Travers Smith as a partner specialising in Company and Commercial Law. Elected President of the Somerville Association, Karen has also been an In-house Lawyer and Company Secretary at Reed International plc (now Reed Elseiver plc), and subsequently Group Company Secretary of Caradon plc (later Novar plc). 

Martin Robinson

Martin has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2013. He is Director and shareholder at KSS Group Ltd, a leading architecture and design practice that he joined in 1994. Martin is the Managing Director responsible for the day-to-day running of the practice including finance, health and safety, human resources, information technology and office administration. As an architect, Martin has extensive experience in the commercial, leisure and sports sectors, and has acted as technical advisor on a number of high profile sports-related projects, including London 2012 Olympic venues.

Benn Shepherd

Benn has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2016. An Old Reedonian, Benn studied BA European Finance & Accounting; broadening his subject at the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce Caen, France. Benn has extensive experience in his domain, holding positions such as Executive Vice President - Man Financial USA (New York); Director, Head Asian Listed Derivatives - Credit Suisse First Boston Securities (Japan); Vice President, Floor Manager Singapore Exchange - Credit Suisse First Boston Securities (Singapore); Associate – Goldman Sachs (Paris & Frankfurt). Benn is the co-founder and CEO of JB Drax Honoré SARL (France), a leading specialist broker with offices in Paris, London, New York, Chicago and Singapore.

John Simpson

John has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2016.  He studied Biology, Chemistry & Education at Durham University then Educational Management and Curriculum Management at Surrey University before studying Curriculum Theory & Philosophy at Cambridge University. Over the years, John has held various positions such as Analytical Chemist and Senior Master and Director of Studies at Royal Grammar School, Guildford. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, John is also a Governor of Ripley Court Prep School and sits on the RGS International Board.

Ron Stewart

Ron has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2005. He is Chairman of the Salaries and Benefits Committee and Reeds School Enterprises Limited.  A Non-Executive Director of Ted Baker Plc, Ron had previously worked with Royal Bank of Scotland for 40 years, retiring as Deputy Managing Director of their Corporate Banking Division in London. Ron is actively involved in Christian ministry, is Vice Chair of the PCC at his local Church, and he and his wife run both Marriage Enrichment and Marriage Preparation courses.

Nigel Taunt

Nigel has been a Governor at Reed’s School since 2014 and President of the Old Reedonians from 2014 to 2018. After university and Chartered Accountancy, Nigel moved into industry, leading to 20+ years as Finance Director of both private and listed businesses in multiple sectors. In 2002, Nigel joined Impax Asset Management as CFO, before moving to MD of corporate finance and, latterly, venture capital. Now retired, Nigel oversees one VC investment in North America on behalf of his former company.
