Every pupil in the Third Form (Year 9) at Reed's takes part in the Outward Bound activity. The scheme is designed to prepare pupils for whatever activity they decide to take up in the Fourth Form (Year 10) as part of the Service Afternoon. It promotes a sense of teamwork amongst pupils by introducing them to a range of new outdoor activities and setting them challenges to overcome as a group.
Over the course of the year, each group will take part in ten activities. These include leadership & teamwork skills, canoeing, climbing, mountain biking, orienteering, campcraft, life saving and community service. These activities foster leadership but, above all, the idea is that the pupils have fun and enjoy themselves. The programme runs throughout the Autumn and Spring terms and finishes with an awards ceremony where pupils' achievements are recognised.
