A plethora of Art Trips this Autumn

Back

The Autumn Term always sees many art trips so that pupils can collect research that forms a basis for their projects. This first-hand experience of art galleries and museums, locations and opportunities to collect photographs has really enriched the work the pupils do.

The Fifth Form GCSE Art group visited the Guildhall Gallery to see an exhibition of paintings based on London architecture for their major project research. In the afternoon the group crossed the Millennium Bridge to Tate Modern to view the Olafur Eliasson exhibition which was a far more sensory experience. The pupils have already used these exhibitions in class as inspiration for their own work.

The A Level Fine Artists visited Tate Britain and the Everard Read Gallery to take in a range of works from traditional still life to contemporary issue-based works by South African artist, Nigel Mullins, which really inspired everyone to look at world events in a new way.

Lower Sixth Graphics and Photography students headed off to Portsmouth to photograph and sketch on board HMS Warrior and in the Historic Dockyard and Gunwharf Quays where luckily the rain held off long enough for everyone to make the most of the opportunity.
