Reed’s School wins National award

Back

Reed’s School was thrilled to receive the ‘Fundraising Campaign of the Year Award’ for the Jarrett Indoor Cricket Centre at the IDPE (the Institute of Development Professionals in Education) Awards Ceremony. The IDPE is the UK’s professional membership organisation for development in schools whose members are state and independent schools from across the UK. Their charitable purpose is to enable schools to develop cultures of giving from their communities so that young people have the best educational experience.

Sharmaine Matthews and Lucy Sadler collected the award on behalf of the Development Office, for what IDPE described as “A fundraising campaign as innovative as the centre itself”. Each one of the award winners was given the highest praise for their achievements within alumni relations and schools’ development.

The new Indoor Cricket Centre at Reed’s, hailed as the best in England by top cricketing professionals, including Alec Stewart OBE, also has a ground-breaking philanthropic business model whereby all the profits go to fund the Reed’s Foundation, a 200 plus-year-old charity for disadvantaged children, in perpetuity. The fundraising campaign was hugely successful, exceeding initial targets with more than 240 donors from across the whole Reed’s community.

Development Director, Kathryn Bartram, commented “We are honoured to have received this prestigious award. The Jarrett Cricket Centre is not only an inspiring facility but exemplifies the strength and spirit of the whole Reed’s community and, most importantly, the centrality of the Reed’s Foundation to the ethos of the School.”
