High Performance Programme

Reed’s School’s Strength and Conditioning department was the first fully-integrated support programme set up by an independent school for youth athletes in the UK in 2009.

Two UKSCA accredited coaches deliver athletic development training support via our High Performance Programme to 120 elite athletes and teams. Training sessions are delivered from 6:45 am until 6:00pm daily.

An osteopathy clinic and a referral network of specialists have been put in place to support our pupils from a sports medicine perspective. The programme helps athletes develop their physical robustness, injury prevention and sports specific progression in support of their development as aspiring elite performers. Pupils access the programme as soon as they begin at Reed’s and we are delighted to be able to promote a responsible and progressive programme that reduces injuries and keeps children safe and having fun.

Accurately assessing the safe progression of pupils in the programme is at the heart of our training philosophy and, as a result, regular screening, performance testing, cumulative load assessment and Long Term Athlete planning informs and drives our evidence-based approach to help nurture the growing athlete.

In an era where performance statistics are used by elite level clubs, governing bodies, universities and teams, and where injury risks are documented and recorded we endeavour to ensure all of our athletes are prepared to perform correctly, effectively and safely at whatever level they achieve.
