Sport Introduction

At Reed’s we provide a programme that enables all our pupils to access the highest quality sporting opportunities. We hope that sport will provide some of the fondest memories pupils take with them from their time at the School. Whether this be pulling on a shirt for their first competitive U12 fixture or winning a national title with the 1st team, our department aims to generate a lifelong love of sport.

We ask all our pupils to play a variety of sports for as long as possible. This helps develop physically robust athletes who are skilled in a number of areas. In addition, we look to work with each individual and help them find a sporting option they can enjoy during their time at Reed’s, but also in life beyond Sandy Lane. The School's core values of Integrity, Compassion, Curiosity, Resilience, Responsibility and Independence will all be developed through sporting activity at differing times, both on and off the pitch.

Our major team sports of Rugby, Hockey and Cricket are regularly successful in national and regional competitions with an ever-increasing number of teams representing the School at all levels. Pupils are also able to participate and represent the school in a wide range of optional sports which offer not only high levels of involvement but significant success. Our Academies in Tennis, Ski Racing, Golf and Swimming compete, and win, at both national and international levels. In addition to this team success, we have seen an ever-increasing number of pupils represent their region or country, achieving individual recognition and honours along the way.

Facilities for sport at Reed’s are outstanding – an Indoor Cricket Centre that has five cricket nets complete with PitchVision cricket analysis system, two floodlit astroturf pitches, expansive rugby and cricket pitches, outdoor and indoor tennis courts, netball courts, coupled with a Sports Centre that comprises a sports hall, squash courts, a multi-fitness gym and a 25-metre swimming pool - all providing an impressive infrastructure for sport.

Sports Scholarships are available at entry to those who show potential, or who currently play at county or national level. We are looking for elite athletes who can contribute to our sports programme at a high level.

We believe there is a sporting option for everyone at Reed’s and it is clear to me that both students and staff at Reed's are passionate about their sport. We are keen to share both our enthusiasm and expertise with you, so please come and find out more about Reed’s Sport by attending one of our Open Mornings or by visiting the School.
