Sixth Form prefects organised a fun Quiz Night as a great way for both year groups to socialise together and get to know each other better. Each table was a mix of L6 and U6 students and topics varied from general knowledge to sports to pop culture. During each question, the room descended into a frenzy of firing answers at one another along with dipping hands into the abundance of snacks on each table. It was a keenly contested occasion - when the results were in it was Table Seven who were victorious! . #gettingtoknowyou #quiznightfun #community

London was the venue for a fascinating trip which led U6 English and Art students to uncover the works and inspiration of 18th century Romantic poet, William Blake. First up was viewing his artwork at Tate Britain, then a boat trip along the Thames noting the landmarks and history of Blake’s world that prompted his renowned poem, ‘London’. To finish, the students stopped at destinations connected to Blake like St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Stationers Hall. A fun and enriching trip that allowed them to contextualise the areas being studied. . #williamblake #london #englishpoetry #romanticart #curiosity

The values of any institution has to be demonstrated from the top and no better example than the lead letter to #thetimes today by the Head of @reedsschool_cobham, Mark Hoskins. Rather than focusing on the great results achieved by our pupils, Mark's compassion & integrity (just two of our School values) highlighted the need to address equality in the education system and to not lose sight of 'the lost third'. #biggerpicture #responsibilityforothers #positiveeducation

Hot on the heels of last week’s brilliant A Level results, we are delighted to be celebrating another fantastic set of grades at GCSE and IGCSE. Half of all grades were awarded at grade 9 or 8, including one in every four of all grades being awarded the highest possible grade of 9. For the eighth consecutive year, more than 70% of all results have been a grade 7 or above with this 2024 cohort recording three-quarters of grades at 9-7. We are immensely impressed with these achievements; our pupils deserve to feel proud that their hard work has paid off. Pupils achieved strongly across all subjects; it is particularly noteworthy that in the compulsory subjects our pupils performed exceedingly well with 84% of all Mathematics grades achieved at Grades 9-7 and 88% of all English Language grades achieved at Grades 9-7, including a superb 44% awarded a Grade 9! Headmaster, Mark Hoskins, commented “Following the exceptional A-level results announced last week, I am delighted that our pupils have, once again, excelled, achieving outstanding GCSE results. This remarkable success is a testament not only to their hard work and dedication but also to the unwavering support from their families and the exceptional efforts of our dedicated staff. The combination of our pupils' determination, the quality of teaching, and the strong partnership between home and school has truly paid off. These results are a reflection of their academic abilities and also of their commitment to balancing excellence in the classroom with meaningful contributions to the broader life of the School. As they move forward, these achievements provide our pupils with the perfect preparation to thrive in the Sixth Form. I am excited to see them build on this success as they continue their journey with us at Reed’s, where I have every confidence they will continue to excel at A-Level.” . #gcseresults2024 #gcseresultsday #gcseresultsday2024

We are very proud of our 2024 Upper Sixth cohort who achieved sensational A Level grades today! 2024 has proved to be another terrific year with an impressive 56% of all grades awarded at A*/A grade and 86% within the A* to B range. A stellar 21% of all grades awarded were the highest possible grade of an A*, with 16 of students (10% of the year group) achieving the incredible feat of at least 3 A*s. Overall 98% of all grades were awarded at A* - C. We are proud of every one of our students; the class of 2024 were a dedicated, resilient and joyful group of young people who made the most of all the opportunities they had available to them, both inside and out of the classroom; these great results attest that they certainly got the balance right! The Headmaster, Mark Hoskins, commented, “Again, this year our students have excelled and achieved a wonderful set of A level results. They all worked incredibly hard, as ever supported brilliantly by their wonderful teachers, and it is so rewarding for us as educators to see, and be part of, the myriad stories that the statistics can never convey. This is our largest ever year group, which is testament to our inclusive ethos where we cultivate and celebrate each individual’s unique talents.” Achieving such excellent results enables our students to move onto their choice of higher education. They have gained places at top universities across the UK and the world. Those holding offers at Oxford and Cambridge were all successful, as were all those holding offers to study Medicine. To name but a few, our students will also be reading courses such as Mathematics and Computer Science at Imperial College, London, Engineering at Durham, Economics at Edinburgh, English and History at Bristol, and Law at Exeter. Beyond the UK, Reed’s pupils will also be studying at prestigious schools including Yale, Tulane, Tulsa and Northeastern in the United States. #alevelresults #alevels2024 #alevelresultsday #proudmoment
