A celebration of languages at the MFL Festival
BackThe highlight of the term for the MFL department was definitely the MFL Festival. An impressive 140 pupils from First Form to Upper Sixth took part in this celebration of languages through dance, drama, poetry and music. A cultural, literary and linguistic travel around the world, it was a great opportunity for pupils to gain confidence speaking a foreign language on stage. Seven languages were represented: Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, and Spanish. The performance started with a singing competition between the First Form Spanish and First Form French pupils and ended with Lower Sixth French pupils performing scenes from ‘La Cantatrice Chauve’ by Ionesco. It was an uplifting evening and we hope many pupils have been inspired to take part next year.
