Momentous Movember - a real community effort

Back

The whole Reed’s community, including friends and family, truly displayed undivided support for the incredible charity, Movember, aimed at raising awareness of Testicular Cancer, Prostate Cancer and Mental Health.

The month of November proved to be a hive of fundraising and educational activities: from badges, tashes and bake sales right through to talks on learning how to check yourself and recognising the signs.

However, the one thing that everyone was talking about was the grand finale on 30th November at 1pm: ‘The Big Shave’. Chemistry teacher, Daniel Leckie, volunteered to have his beloved beard shaved off if fundraising reached £3,000. Not only was the required amount raised but, as the clock struck 1pm, it edged over the £4,000 mark, finishing on a grand total of £4,395 - the 19th largest fundraiser in the country for this initiative!
