Speech Day 2019

Saturday 6th July - with guest of honour Mr Jon Snow, Channel 4 News Presenter

Our Guest of Honour, Jon Snow joined ITN in 1976, reporting from Africa, the Middle East and Europe. He served as Washington Correspondent 1983-87; Diplomatic correspondent 1987-89, and main anchor of Channel 4 News from 1989. 
Jon has reported on many of the world’s largest news stories and, amongst many other awards,  was honoured with the BAFTA Fellowship in 2015 along with a BAFTA for news coverage of the Paris massacre in 2016. 

As well as presenting Channel 4 News, Jon has also hosted numerous televised public debates, writes Snowblog - a unique take on the day's events - and Snowmail - a preview of the evening programme's main stories. He has served on the Boards of Britain’s National Gallery, and Tate Gallery and spent thirty years as Chairman of the New Horizon Youth Centre, a London day centre for homeless and vulnerable teenagers.

Speech Day will take place in a marquee on 12 Acre Sports Field.

Attendance is compulsory for all prize winners and pupils in the First, Third, Fifth and Sixth Forms. All parents of these pupils are warmly invited. Pupils and their parents from the Second and Fourth Forms are also warmly invited; however, attendance is not compulsory and places may be limited.

Pupils and parents from the Upper Sixth Form are invited to arrive at 10am to join the Headmaster, Governors and Staff for refreshments. 

Pupils and parents from the First to Lower Sixth Forms are invited to arrive from 10:30am to be seated by 10.45am; the Speeches will start at 11am promptly.

Pupils should be dressed smartly in School Uniform and Sixth Formers should wear suits. They should accompany their parents and sit with them, unless they happen to have won a prize in which case they will sit with other prize winners.

Drinks and canapés will be served afterwards at approximately 1.00pm and celebrations will end at 2.30pm.
