Gareth Hart

Assistant Head (Digital Learning)

Gareth grew up in South Africa, where he trained to become a Physics and Chemistry Teacher through the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Upon completing his training in 1996, he spent some time in the UK as a supply teacher before returning to South Africa to teach at Durban High School for four years, where he became the Head of the Physical Science department. During this time, he completed a two year further diploma in education, through the University of Pretoria, specialising in the use of technology in education.

In early 2002, Gareth and his family moved to the UK permanently, and after a two-term stint at Hinchley Wood School, joined Reed’s in September 2002 and has never looked back. Whilst at Reed’s he has been Head of Blathwayt House, Head of Silver DOE, Head of First Form and Head of Basketball. In the past few years, he has also completed an MA through the University of Leeds, again specialising in the role of technology in education and distance learning. This proved fortuitous over the course of the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, he has also recently completed the National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership (NPQSL).

Gareth is a firm believer that, through grit and determination, anyone can achieve if they put their minds to it. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors and running, and has completed several half and full marathons.
