Woking Drama Festival Success with 4 nominations and an award!

Back

To up the ante, this year the Drama Department entered two groups in the Woking Drama Festival.  The pupils in the Fourth Form Drama class had the challenging task of devising a 45 minute play in four weeks; their final piece was called 'In Relation To' and was set in a PSHE classroom, which included various side stories and experiences that were told with much humour. All of the cast did a valiant job, but the performances of Ben Davidson, Olly Powell and Jonny Seymour stood out.

The Fifth Form Drama class performed Alastair McDowall's 'Zero For The Young Dudes!' which was received with much enthusiasm from the adjudicator. The piece was described as 'gripping and thrilling' and was performed with 'great skill'. She stated that the staging was 'such a clever conception', with 'absolutely superb' lighting and a 'wonderful, so well chosen soundtrack'. All of the cast members had their individual strengths highlighted - too many to name them all in this article!

At the Awards Ceremony, we were thrilled to receive nominations for Best Lighting, Best Sound, Best Director and Best Youth Actor for Sam Rowe who the adjudicator said was 'absolutely riveting' and had a 'wonderful delivery'. Most pleasingly, we were awarded the cup for Technical Excellence - the only group to score 100% for this category. We scored the second highest score in the Youth Category - a brilliant effort for all involved!
