Sixth Form House Refurbishment - Phase 1 Completed

Back

We are thrilled to announce that the first stage of the refurbishment to the Sixth Form House has been completed. The new atrium gives the students a light, airy, quiet place to study with plenty of dedicated learning hubs, just in time for some serious A Level revision to take place. The Upper Sixth Formers have embraced the new space which allows them to work in a variety of ways, from the focused individual carrels, to open low or high tables, in groups in an enclosed “collaboration pod” or even making use of the sofas for quiet reading. The area is very much like a university study space, reflecting the maturity of our students, as well as preparing them for life beyond Reed’s.

A few boarders have also moved into the first of the newly-refurbished bedrooms – fully equipped with built-in furniture providing huge amounts of storage, soft lighting, dedicated work spaces with ample storage, soft seating areas, along with new, plush carpets and curtains; these rooms give a foretaste of the transformation the boarding house is undergoing and the positive effects of this new environment.

With the café due for completion over the summer as well as phase two of the refurbishment starting, the future promises a new era for our Sixth Form!

Luke Michael, Assistant Head (Sixth Form)
