Matthew Moran qualifies for the British Mathematical Olympiad

Back

Further Mathematicians in the Sixth Form (along with budding Third Form Mathematician, Alan Dawson) took part in the UK Senior Maths Challenge. After a gruelling set of 25 questions over the course of an hour-and-a-half the pupils gained 1 Gold, 4 Silvers and 5 Bronzes between them, a brilliant achievement!

The highlights were Alan Dawson achieving bronze (despite being three years below the target age for the test) and Matthew Moran qualifying for the British Mathematical Olympiad, the first person to do this at Reed’s! He will sit a three-and-a-half-hour paper consisting of only 5 incredibly complex questions in two weeks’ time. Congratulations to him and to all the participants.
