As our activities programme got underway this week pupils doing the Bronze  @DofE Award had a fantastic start to their journey by learning how to put tents up. With plenty of wind blowing through the 'kitchens', 'porches' & 'master bedrooms', there was lots of laughter and teamwork on display. A big shout out to our Head of Athletics, Mr Morrell, who has just been crowned British Javelin Champion for 2025 in the men's Masters age group. He competed in a very wet and windy British Masters Track & Field Championships in Derby last weekend and, to add to his incredible achievement, he also won Bronze in the Discus! Our pupils are lucky to have his experience and expertise to call on for their own journeys through the world of  #athletics.

New school year, new award!! 🏆 As pupils arrived for their first day of the new school year at Reed’s they were excited to learn about the new Andrew Reed Award which recognises and celebrates participation in the wide co-curricular life at Reed’s. Determined not to let last week’s top A Level results steal the show, our Fifth Form cohort today are celebrating another incredible set of grades at GCSE and IGCSE. The pupils’ hard work and dedication has certainly paid off with more than half of all grades awarded a grade 9 or 8, and three quarters of all grades awarded at grades 9-7. Over 25% of all grades were awarded the top grade of 9. These are great results, and the pupils should feel deservedly proud of their achievements after the effort they put in. It is pleasing to see this cohort carry on the legacy of success at GCSE at Reed’s as this is the 9th year in a row that more than 70% of all grades have been awarded at grades 9-7. Our pupils performed well across all subjects. We are particularly proud that in the compulsory subjects of Mathematics and English Language, our students did exceedingly well. In English Language, 89% of all grades were 9-7 and in Mathematics this mark was achieved by over 90% of all students! Headmaster, Mark Hoskins commented: ‘Following last week’s outstanding A-level results, I am delighted to share that our pupils have once again demonstrated their excellence with an exceptional set of GCSE results. This achievement reflects not only their hard work and commitment, but also the invaluable encouragement of their parents and guardians and the tireless dedication of our exceptional staff. The success we celebrate today is the result of determination, high-quality teaching, and the strong partnership between home and school. These results highlight not only our pupils’ academic strengths but also their ability to balance success in the classroom with meaningful contributions to school life beyond it. We are immensely proud of our 2025 Upper Sixth cohort whose hard work and dedication has been rewarded with a set of brilliant A Level results. Over a quarter of the year group secured a clean sweep of A*/A grades and, once again, over half of all grades were awarded at A*/A. With over 97% of all grades achieved at A*-C, we are delighted that their achievements have empowered our students to take up an exciting range of post-18 opportunities. This year saw a record number of places offered to study Medicine/Veterinary Medicine, including two students taking up these offers at Cambridge. We also have students headed to Cambridge to study Computer Science and Chemical Engineering. The breadth of pathways chosen by this year’s leavers is vast, spanning courses from Philosophy, Politics and Economics at UCL, Physics at Durham and Mechanical Engineering at Bath - just a few of the many UK university courses our students are going on to study. Beyond the UK University pathway, we have students embarking on impressive Degree Apprenticeships, as well as taking up offers far and wide at prestigious universities in the United States, Australia, and the Netherlands.
