Five students attended a stimulating and insightful MUN (Model United Nations) conference at @alleynsschool, Dulwich. Representing the countries Ukraine and Kenya the students engaged in productive debates on topics such as military proliferation and instability in Iraq, as well as the consequences of cyber warfare and terrorism. Guest speaker, Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles, a former Middle Eastern British Ambassador, delivered a talk about his experiences with the Israel-Palestine conflict. The day concluded with a General Assembly where delegates were presented with a crisis and had to collaborate with other schools to pass resolutions addressing the situation. . #curiosity #modelunitednations #modelunitednationsconference

Our Sixth Form's Community Action Group has been busy this week making a difference in the local community. They spent time at a Care Home where Archie and Jack entertained with some fantastic music, whilst the other students enjoyed chatting with the residents - conversations were still flowing by the time they had to leave! Other students visited Hersham Hounds - an animal welfare centre that specialises in looking after retired greyhounds - where they walked and fed five dogs who obviously appreciated it given their reluctance to go back! Further projects are planned - they all wholeheartedly embody our Value of Compassion. . #CommunityAction #compassion #ourvalues

The Sixth Form Girls Dinner was a great social and integration opportunity for the new Lower SIxth girls to mix with the Upper Sixth. They enjoyed fun games (including a 'guess the teacher' round) as well as a delicious Katsu chicken curry from our wonderful caterers, Independents by Sodexo. . #integration #fungames #katsucurry

Our extensive Activities programme provides a wide choice to ensure our pupils experience a broad education at Reed's. Sailing is a popular option - over 20 pupils got out on the water this week at @Littleton Sailing Club in a variety of boats including Picos, Visions and Fevas. Fifth Form pupils Leonardo and Eddie sailed independently for the first time too! . #sailing #sailingadventure #sailinglessons #independence

U6th Geographers had a brilliant trip to South Wales this week to collect data for their assessments. After braving the rain to explore Cardiff Bay and the impact of urban regeneration on the area they then went to Porthcawl to explore coastal management strategies and the likely impact of storms on coastal flood risk. The next day students independently collected data to help answer their own investigation titles - topics ranged from ‘Cardiff’s urban sustainability and the changing character of Cardiff Bay’ to ‘The effectiveness of coastal management in Porthcawl’. Some students even studied sand dune succession at Merthyr Mawr! The focus on the final day was how to elevate their projects to A* level by collecting data on urban air pollution and considering future coastal protection schemes. . #geography #geographyfieldtrip #southwales #cardiff #porthcawl #curiosity

Terrific achievement for @reeds.golf performance squad as they battled the elements, leaderboard pressure and a cancelled round to win the @schoolsgolf AQ Invitational, a @world_amateur_golf_rankings event. Fabulous from everyone involved, with world class preparation @gregbrodiegolf and excellent attitudes from players to produce some unflappable performances. Well done Matthew K on the individual win (guess who’s back), and Harry H and Finlay F for top 5 finishes. Notable also Tom C on debut shooting two great scores in his first competitive rounds……! Thank you to @theplayersgolfclub for hosting and working so hard to get the event on.

Sixth Form prefects organised a fun Quiz Night as a great way for both year groups to socialise together and get to know each other better. Each table was a mix of L6 and U6 students and topics varied from general knowledge to sports to pop culture. During each question, the room descended into a frenzy of firing answers at one another along with dipping hands into the abundance of snacks on each table. It was a keenly contested occasion - when the results were in it was Table Seven who were victorious! . #gettingtoknowyou #quiznightfun #community

London was the venue for a fascinating trip which led U6 English and Art students to uncover the works and inspiration of 18th century Romantic poet, William Blake. First up was viewing his artwork at Tate Britain, then a boat trip along the Thames noting the landmarks and history of Blake’s world that prompted his renowned poem, ‘London’. To finish, the students stopped at destinations connected to Blake like St Bartholomew’s Hospital and Stationers Hall. A fun and enriching trip that allowed them to contextualise the areas being studied. . #williamblake #london #englishpoetry #romanticart #curiosity
