Reed's In The News

We are very proud of our 2024 Upper Sixth cohort who achieved sensational A Level grades today!
2024 has proved to be another terrific year with an impressive 56% of all grades awarded at A*/A grade and 86% within the A* to B range. A stellar 21% of all grades awarded were the highest possible grade of an A*, with 16 of students (10% of the year group) achieving the incredible feat of at least 3 A*s. Overall 98% of all grades were awarded at A* - C.
We are proud of every one of our students; the class of 2024 were a dedicated, resilient and joyful group of young people who made the most of all the opportunities they had available to them, both inside and out of the classroom; these great results attest that they certainly got the balance right!
The Headmaster, Mark Hoskins, commented, “Again, this year our students have excelled and achieved a wonderful set of A level results. They all worked incredibly hard, as ever supported brilliantly by their wonderful teachers, and it is so rewarding for us as educators to see, and be part of, the myriad stories that the statistics can never convey. This is our largest ever year group, which is testament to our inclusive ethos where we cultivate and celebrate each individual’s unique talents.”
Achieving such excellent results enables our students to move onto their choice of higher education. They have gained places at top universities across the UK and the world. Those holding offers at Oxford and Cambridge were all successful, as were all those holding offers to study Medicine. To name but a few, our students will also be reading courses such as Mathematics and Computer Science at Imperial College, London, Engineering at Durham, Economics at Edinburgh, English and History at Bristol, and Law at Exeter. Beyond the UK, Reed’s pupils will also be studying at prestigious schools including Yale, Tulane, Tulsa and Northeastern in the United States.

After an incredible and moving Memorial Concert yesterday for our former Director of Music, Roger Willey, it was lovely to be able to take the beautiful flowers used at the event (as well as at Speech Day) to the @pahospice for their patients, families and staff to enjoy. Especially poignant as they so kindly cared for Roger in his final days.
Thank you to our amazing caretaking team for making the delivery!

Well that's a wrap for 2023/24! Speech Day today ended another incredible year of achievements at Reed's for all our pupils.
The Chair of Governors kicked off proceedings by thanking parents for their continued support and assuring them that the school is robust enough to weather whatever the new Govt throws at us.
The year's successes were celebrated by the Headmaster; he implored the Sixth Form leavers to show the independence and initiative to make their own opportunities in their lives after Reed's. After presenting a plethora of prizes our guest speaker, the Rt Hon. the Baroness Bottomley of Nettlestone, praised the wonderful community we have at Reed's and talked to pupils about the importance of their future responsibility in a democracy. Her advice to the leavers was to go out in the world as good citizens, be courageous and steadfastly maintain the values they have learnt at Reed's.
The School Captains rounded off proceedings. Sofia lamented that she was leaving a community that believed in and shaped her; Matt's advice was that you get out what you put in, so be brave and take chances when offered to you.
The event was punctuated by some uplifting music!
